Launched 2016
The Innovation Academy launched in Glasgow in 2016, bringing together professionals and young pioneers through workshops, presentations and practical experiences. From the outset, it was designed with a European outlook, focusing on collaboration, change and creativity, and creating opportunities to share knowledge and ideas across sectors and borders.
Different by design
The Academy took a different approach to learning, using conversation, workshops and creative experiences to encourage people from different backgrounds to think and work together. This included helping bring the Climathon innovation hackathon to Glasgow for the first time, creating a practical setting for people to collaborate around real-world challenges.
European outlook
The Academy's European outlook quickly found expression in Brussels. In 2016, its work was presented at the European Innovation Summit, and Susan Robertson spoke at the European Parliament about the principles behind the Academy and Innovators Magazine. OnePoint5Media and the Academy also signed the K4I Pact for Innovation, supporting cross-sector collaboration.
What's next?
The world has changed considerably since the Academy launched. We are exploring how it can evolve around new challenges, curating workshops and experiences focused on future foresight, emerging ideas, collaboration and the human skills needed to navigate change. Sessions can be designed around the questions, places and communities that matter.
